FAQ's

Central Valley Winter Camp is held each year in the month of February/March!

Where is CVWC?
The camp is located at the SCICON Facilities in Tulare County- Approximately 37 miles East of Tulare on Highway 190.

SCICON is the Outdoor School of Science and Conservation operated by Tulare County Office of Education. SCICON is located eight miles above Springville in the foothills of eastern Tulare County at an elevation between 2000 and 3500 feet above sea level.

What is there to do at the camp?
Within this 1100-acre campus are many miles of hiking trails, a museum of natural history,planetarium, observatory, raptor center and amphitheater for evening activities. Basketball, Volleyball and a bonfire pit!

Where do we sleep?
Twenty cabins adorn the campus as housing for students and staff.

What about food and eating?
Meals take place in the spacious John Muir Lodge. A snack bar is available in between meals!

Do the cabins have a heater?
Each Cabin has ceiling fans a fire place and a heater.

How about the restrooms?
The restrooms have hot and cold water! Each shower and toilet are individual for privacy.

How many people to a cabin?
Cabins are bunk bed style with each camper needing to provide their own pillow and sleeping bag. Approximately 10-14 campers can stay in each cabin

Does it snow at CVWC?
SCICON is not high enough for snow.....
